Roughly 1.2 billion people ride the London subway each year. Most of them locals, rushing to work. We met China at the Angel underground station yesterday when she had a lull between peak travel periods.
She agreed for a quick chat but warned me we might be interrupted (which we were, by someone who had a particular sweet craving and someone who didn’t say thank you).
China is a young, pretty woman who stands on her feet all day helping people get across the dreaded gates-this author herself has been caught in its clutches several times due to her inability to get through quick enough- does she not deserve better?
“Its a great job and I really enjoy it here,”
We whizz past all these guys who are so important to our travel experience with nary a ‘thank you’ or ‘please’. Despite our general boorishness, China says she loves working for TfL. “Its a great job and I really enjoy it here,” she says.
Why don’t you hear for yourself?
